Shepparton Equestrian Club's move to a new home has been a successful one with the running of the first three-day school holiday camp at the venue.

The equestrian club, which moved to Mitchell Rd in April last year, had eight enthusiastic girls practising all equestrian disciplines.

``The girls got to practise a lot of events that they wouldn't normally get the opportunity to,'' event organiser Toni Gough said.

``I think they enjoyed themselves as well.''

Toni said the new venue was a better set-up than the club's previous home.

``The facilities are a lot better than what we had before,'' she said.

``There is a lot more room here and a lot more scope to improve, which is a real positive.''

All participants in the three-day camp gained invaluable hands-on experience.

``The first two days were just normal riding,'' Toni said.

``Then there was a dressage event, showjumping and the fun activity where the kids have to dress up on their horse.

``I try to keep the numbers down, so I can really help them out.''

The camp was a good opportunity for children to get a better understanding of how to prepare for carnivals in the future.

``Children don't often get the opportunity to have a full dress rehearsal _ it gives the feel of a real competition,'' Toni said.

``It also gives me an opportunity to teach them about how they should dress and prepare for events.

``But most importantly, everyone involved had a lot of fun.''
