It was a career that Bree Findlay just fell into, but one that has taken her overseas and all the way back to Shepparton to start her own business.

Bree found her way into the fashion industry after five years of primary school teaching.

Based in Melbourne, she worked as a buyer for Rivers Clothing, travelling to places including China, where she learnt the ins and outs of the industry including design, fabrics, fits, factories, shipping and sales.

Not long after moving to Shepparton, where Bree's husband Leigh is originally from, the couple had their first child, Zara, who is now 18 months old.

``I went from full-time work to nothing and I needed something to do while I was at home,'' Bree said.

``Through my job with Rivers I visited a lot of factories in China and got to know a lot about how it all worked, so I decided to use that knowledge to start up my own label.''

Her baby clothing range, MiniFin, was released at Christmas and is now stocked in 20 stores across Victoria.

The label was launched at Ann's Maternity and Children's Wear in Fryers St, Shepparton on Saturday.

``It is babies' clothing in sizes triple zero to two, ranging in price from $9.95 to $16.95 . . . I found that when I had Zara there was a bit of a niche for good-priced baby clothing in boutique stores,'' Bree said.

``I wanted to create something which was fashionable and affordable.''

Bree is currently designing her label's winter range.
