Recharge and help the planet

SNWeekly

This month Shepparton residents can help the environment and support Planet Ark by switching to economical rechargeable batteries.

From March 13 to April 9, 20 per cent of the cost of each VARTA rechargeable product sold at Bunnings Warehouse, 225 Benalla Rd, Shepparton will be donated to Planet Ark, which will invest in recycling initiatives benefiting communities across Australia.

VARTA rechargeable batteries can be re-used up to 1000 times, which makes them a more economical option, and they have up to 32 times less impact on the environment than disposable batteries.

Bunnings Warehouse Shepparton complex manager Luc DeCesaris said VARTA rechargeable batteries provided a simple way to cut down on household waste.

``Planet Ark's work to improve battery recycling prevents thousands of traditional batteries ending up in landfill. This scheme is part of their ongoing program to encourage environmental change in the community,'' Luc said.

``It's great to be able to support this initiative, and we encourage Shepparton residents to get on board and help create a more sustainable future.''
